Judith Williams spent her early career in publishing and investment banking. In 1992 Williams secured seed money funding from a private foundation to establish a nonprofit corporation engaged in researching and publishing on gender issues and women’s leadership.
With Deborah Kolb, Williams wrote The Shadow Negotiation: How Women Can Master the Hidden Agendas That Determine Bargaining Success (Simon & Schuster, 2000). In 2003 Jossey-Bass published a revised and expanded paperback edition of The Shadow Negotiation titled Everyday Negotiation: Navigating the Hidden Agendas in Bargaining.
Since 2006 Williams has been based in southeast Asia, where she has collaborated with women’s organizations and NGOs in Bangladesh and India to increase the decision-making power and strengthen the leadership of women there. Williams earned a B.A. at Bryn Mawr College and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, as well as an M.B.A. from the Simmons Graduate School of Management with highest honors.
